The Minneapolis Light Rail
The Minneapolis light rail is twelve miles of track that covers 17 stops between Downtown Minneapolis (Warehouse District) and the Mall of America. Don’t be fooled by the short distance, this train covers a lot of ground.
If you choose to travel from one end to another you will see encounter some of the staples of Bloomington, MN and Minneapolis, MN. Some of the attractions are Mall of America, Minnehaha Falls, the Metrodome which is the home of the Minnesota Vikings, Twins and Gopher football.
Drive to any of the three park n ride along the route and hop on the train. The Fort Snelling has the largest with 950 spaces followed by the 28th avenue with 600 and Lake Street/Midtown with 240 spaces.

The cost to ride is $2.00 during rush hour and $1.50 all other times. The light rail is based on the honor system because there are no ticket agents you must purchase your ticket at one of the dispensers or get a transfer from any bus operator. However there is a $180.00 fine for riding without a ticket.
